Dumbarton People's Theatre

This is a very successful and popular amateur dramatic club that has served the theatre going public in Dumbarton and area since 1945.

The Club has its own rehearsal studio at Dumbarton East beside the railway station. This has developed through the years since we joined the Club. Originally the building was a large tin hut. That was a cold and very unpleasant place and you had to be very keen to be a member in those days. Today the Club has a nice new brick build studio. What a difference.

The Club has at least four productions each year. Most are plays, through the whole spectrum from classics to light comedy. The Christmas production is a pantomime. Based on one of the popular stories, the scripts are written by Club members.

The rehearsal studio is not large enough to actually present the plays and so the Club uses The Denny Civic Theatre located in Dumbarton town centre.
