For the Trainz Railroad Simulator
Class 305
Built at BREL Doncaster in 1960, these 75mph 4 car units first saw
service working out of Liverpool Street. 5 units were transferred to
Scotland in 1991 for working on the newly electrified North Berwick
branch. They were withdrawn in 2001 and were finally towed away on
26/01/02 to Immingham for disposal. These units carried Regional
Railways livery with ScotRail branding while working in Scotland. The
ScotRail was later painted out and replaced with the company logo. One
unit, 315519 retained NSE livery in Scotland for a short time while
being used on driver training.
Class 318:
Built at BREL York 1985-1987, these 21, 90mph 3 car units
revolutionised travel in Ayrshire where they replaced the ageing class
126 DMUs on the newly electrified Glasgow Central- Ayr line. delivered
in Strathclyde PTE orange and black livery, they were all repainted
when the SPT changed their colours to red and cream. During mid 2001, a
few of these units were drafted in to work on the Edinburgh- North
Berwick line displacing the class 305 first generation units, this was
to be only a temporary measure though. These units have now been refurbished.
As well as running out of Glasgow Central, they also serve North Bank Electric
routes. Some of the units received names during their career.
Class 320:
Built at BREL York during 1990, these 22, 75mph 3 car units were put to
work on North Clyde services excluding Argyle Line working.
Delivered in Strathclyde orange livery, they later received the SPT red and
cream livery.
These units have now been refurbished. Some have received names.
Class 322:
Built at BREL York during 1990, this small class of only 5, 100mph 4
car units have seen a remarkably varied career. Originally these were
used on Liverpool Street- Stansted Airport services, but following
displacement they found other duties including one moving to North West
Trains and being painted in their blue livery. In 2002, the entire
class was then surprisingly transferred to Scotland for use on the
Edinburgh- North Berwick line, replacing the class 318s. As this was
initially intended to be a temporary solution, the units retained their
existing liveries, albeit with most of the logos painted out. They were
moved away a few years later, only to return in 2006 permanently. Each
unit was then refurbished in turn, and repainted in the First ScotRail
livery. 322481 was named 'North Berwick Flyer'.
